I have over twenty years of experience in the IT profession as Sr. Systems Analyst, Sr. Programmer, and Programmer. I possess extensive knowledge of software analysis, design and application development with key experience in working with interfacing applications between systems and across different platforms. I am a self-starter, can work independently or with a team, and can work directly with the end-user.

Sr. Systems Analyst, Goody's Family Clothing, Knoxville, TN; Aug 1999 - Jan 2009

Responsible for the design and development of all enhancements to an off-the-shelf retail Purchase Order system, the code of which was purchased for the sole purpose of responding to internal needs quicker. This was a long-term project with key work efforts included meeting with users, analyzing needs, and coding enhancements for merchandisers in a 380-store retail chain. System was written in Visual Basic with Oracle back-end database, with some functionality being in MS-Access. An entire suite of applications, such as e-mail/fax delivery to vendors and integration with legacy business systems, where added to this core framework.

Served as Project Manager for the implementation of the NGC ESPS Product Lifecycle Management system used for tracking the overseas development of products. Responsibilities included initial setup of the application, interfacing with existing SQL-based and Visual Basic-based in-house database systems, plus handling user and training issues inherent in a rollout of this magnitude. This was a significant company project that tracked the output of the Product Development division, which in turn represented approximately 30% of the chain's apparel sales.

Developed a major planning system used by all merchandisers. The system had both online and batch processes that streamlined the analysis of sales and inventory records. Users were able to create individualized tracking plans (several thousands were maintained) and the system would create historical and predictive sales plans based on user forecasts.

Developed an automated system to interface between Goody's e-Commerce website and existing systems. The system was designed to route orders to the fulfillment warehouse after validating inventory levels and payment processing. Upon the end of day, sales history files were created and merged with the existing sales tracking records. I was responsible for the analysis, design, and development for the in-house component of this major initiative. The system was designed in Visual Basic with interconnections to an Oracle SQL backend database.

Created a series of Unix-based scripts that were used to automate various database tasks, primarily to support sales tracking, product deletion, and similar tasks necessary to support a corporate-wide database system. These scripts used Unix commands and Oracle SQL queries extensively.

Developed numerous ad hoc queries and reports for our financial and warehouse systems by drawing from existing data in a variety of forms. Many reports provided impetus to change existing (i.e., "traditional") procedures into ways that were much more efficient for the corporation. Reports were created using Crystal Reports 11; queries utilized a suite of tools, but primarily relied upon Oracle SQL.

Systems Analyst, Oak Ridge Associated Universities, Oak Ridge, TN, Consultant/Sr. Systems Analyst, May 1998 - August 1999

Analyzed, designed, and coded software solutions for the Dept. of Energy, Savannah River Site, Aiken, SC. The work included interfacing with clients of diverse technical skills and crafting the "best fit" computer solutions. Some of these tasks included automating non-computerized Personnel tasks and creating complex performance measure graphs ("metrics") showing progress toward DOE goals. Development languages included Microsoft Access, using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) coding and interfacing with ODBC Oracle database.

Designed and developed an employee record tracking system. This system tracked HR records including employee performance, grievance issues, on-board strength numbers, and various employee-related records. Historical records were initially loaded from legacy data that existed in stand-alone systems.

I developed several computer-based training applications that simulated a mainframe application and provide embedded instructional material for self-paced training course for the U.S. Navy.

Sr. Systems Programmer/Analyst, World Computer Systems, Inc., Oak Ridge, TN; January 1989 - May 1998

Developed a pollution tracking system for use by Lockheed-Martin Energy Systems. The system, written in Microsoft Access 2.0, incorporated several legacy systems, as well as new tools for pollution prevention tracking. It consisted of data collection forms with data validation, complex reports, and data security for the Dept. of Energy's Reduce/Re-Use/Recycle initiative.

Analyzed, designed, and developed a computer-based training (CBT) system for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The system was designed using the C++ programming language, low-level function calls, and several object libraries. The features of the run-time engine include processing of metafile graphics, logging and scoring routines, and question processing. The features of the parser include handling MS-Word for Windows curriculum files, automatic menu generation, and in-line question and feedback processing. The system was used to train approximately 5000 Veteran's Benefits Counselors throughout the U.S.
